Identification of novel autoantigens as potential biomarkers in juvenile idiopathic arthritis associated uveitis

Abstract

This study sought to identify autoantigens associated with uveitis in ANA‑positive oligoarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Antibodies from patients with and without uveitis were analysed using peptide arrays and immunoprecipitation followed by mass spectrometry. In a targeted bead‑based array, patients with uveitis had higher autoreactivity and stronger responses to 17 specific antigens compared with patients without uveitis. A combination of specific autoantibodies may stratify uveitis risk in JIA patients.
